WalkBlur for Mac
System requirements
Check your Mac and camera before purchasing.
macOS and camera
- macOS 27 or later. Earlier macOS versions are not supported by the current build.
- A working camera and permission to use it.
- A clear, well-lit view of your face from your normal working position.
Optional screen blur
Snapshot blur requires Screen Recording permission. macOS may require restarting WalkBlur after permission is granted. If capture fails, the opaque cover remains in place. The default solid cover does not require Screen Recording access.
Displays
WalkBlur creates a cover for each display macOS reports and updates when the display arrangement changes. Sidecar, iPad-as-display setups, and every combination of displays and full-screen Spaces have not been verified. Coverage does not extend to apps running independently on an iPad.
Performance and detection
Camera use and local analysis consume power. Battery and thermal benchmarks are not available. Lighting, camera placement, glasses, hats, and facial occlusion can affect recognition. Reliable results across all these conditions are not guaranteed.
Protection limits
WalkBlur estimates head direction, not eye gaze. It is a dismissible cover, not a lock screen or identity authentication system. Only me has no liveness detection and may accept a photograph. Do not rely on the cover to hide screen shares or recordings. Lock your Mac when you leave it unattended.
